Birthday

So, today is my birthday. Yep. I'll toot my own horn.

When I was in first or second grade, another girl made fun of me because I was so young. I went home and my dad told me that one day I'd enjoy being the youngest. Now I do.

My most "memorable" birthday was my "roller skating" birthday. We arrived at the roller rink, only to wait and find out it was under renovation. We drove to a park instead. Then we headed to pizza. But on the way to pizza, a bee flew into the car and I freaked out and stuck my foot in my own cake. I don't remember being all that upset. I think we just laughed about it. Which is pretty good for an 8 year old.

Last Friday I received an early birthday cake from friends at a BBQ. They surprised me. The funny part, was that I wasn't sure it was for me. They came out singing happy birthday, but there were other people there that I didn't know. I didn't want to be presumptuous - I mean, it could very easily be for someone else. I didn't know if I should sing or not.....but then they said "Happy Birthday to Brrryyyynnnn" and I knew it was for me. So loved.

Tonight we are going to the Trace Adkins/Toby Keith concert so I can get my America on.

Should be good times.

Stomach Flu

I've got a bad case of it. Or at least I did on Tuesday.

Sucky. The good news? I lost 3 lbs.....yes, yes, I know, it's terrible.

Take that, Prop 8!

Prop 8 - or Prop H8TE as we like to call it - was just struck down by a CA judge. Is it over? Most definitely, not. Is it a step in the right direction? Absolutely!

A little background for anyone that doesn't know about prop 8 - it was a ban on same sex marriage. Voting YES meant you were FOR the ban and voting NO meant you were against the ban. It passed and decent people were up in arms.

Here's my rant from 2008 - back when we initially voted on this stupid thing. You can ignore the part at the end about me getting married....because clearly, I am now getting married. But that really doesn't change anything.

Is so random.

I was skyping with her the other day and she just starts giggling. So I said, "What are you doing?"

And she responds, "Watching videos of babies eating lemons and a few of babies eating pickles."

Nick's Softball Game

Nick's been playing in an all guys softball league since he moved to California - about 3.5 years ago. I finally went to my 2nd game last Sunday. It was playoffs. You gotta go to playoffs.

So I went to my second game and the poor guys fought hard but lost.

The other team was called, "I'd Hit That." So here's the thing, I'm all about creative names, but you need a name that wouldn't make your mom ashamed of you.

In other news, I don't know how baseball wives handle the stress. We have some friends in the big leagues and I couldn't imagine watching my husband play big league ball - I get stressed out during beer league softball.

Despicable Me

We could have seen Inception or even Salt. But instead, we decided to see Despicable Me. Why? Because who doesn't love a heart warming animated cartoon movie?

It stars Steve Carell, as the voice of Gru - the evil villain.

I won't spoil it for you, but it was very heart warming.

I recommend it.

We actually wanted to see Inception and/or Salt....but we had a free pass and those movies were non-pass movies. Which is totally lame since they both have been open for at least a week. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Like a kid again

My birthday came a little early this year!

Nick got me a new bike! Nope, nothing too fancy, but it has around 18 speeds, hybrid tires and a cushy seat!

Before I got on he asked, "do you still remember how?"

Please. I ride bikes at work all the time.

We took a quick ride behind our place with the neighbor girls. The comcast parking lot is a money spot for trying out a new ride.

I remember when I got my first bike, and I remember the 2nd one as well. The first one was red and white (w/ training wheels). I got some of those bottle cap things to snap on the spokes - it made an annoying sound, but I thought it was cool. Then, after I'd progressed far enough, I got to take off the training wheels. Once, I crashed really hard and lost one of my teeth - it was a baby tooth and it was loose. But I was sad that the tooth fairy wouldn't come.

Then, on one of my birthdays - maybe 7 or 8? I got a mountain bike. It was white, pink and orange. We took it to Sun River and it got bugs on it from the drive. It was awesome.

Now I have a white and green schwinn. It's awesome. Thanks, N.
