Up

I love Pixar.  Honestly, if I listed off some of my favorite movies of all times, it would look a like a 10 year old wrote it.  I love Toy Story (1 and 2), The Incredibles, Wall-E and now Up.  It seemed like it would be a flop - I mean, a guy makes his house fly away by tying a bunch of helium balloons to it?  But it was AWESOME (said like Dash from The Incredibles)!  Any movie that can make me cry within the first 10 minutes and has talking dogs....I mean, how could it not be a winner!?  It was very heart warming.  The best scene was the geriatric fight scene.  Hilarious.

There was a little type casting - I mean, a doberman as the mean dog....duh?  But it was great.  Go see it.  It will make you all warm inside.

Here's my list of favorite movies, no particular order:

Beauty and the Beast
Legally Blonde
X-men (all 3)
Toy Story (1 and 2)
Monsters Inc.
Aladdin
Rookie (I cry at the end of that one, I'm just so happy for the guy)

I could also watch the end of A Beautiful Mind a million times.  So not all my movie choices are for kids...but most are.

Prop 8

So the CA Supreme Court voted to uphold Prop 8.  This means that gay and lesbians can't get married.  This shouldn't even be an issue.

Here's my new proposition.  Remove the word "marriage" all together.  When you go to the court house, you get a license for a civil union - not a marriage license.  Then, choose to call it whatever you want.  Legally, we're all the same.

Bah.  This frustrates me more than it should.  And honestly, I can't find a good argument in support of Prop 8.

A beautiful day in Seattle

It doesn't get much better than this.  A beautiful day at Gas Works followed by some Dick's.

Saturday and Sunday

On Saturday, Mom and I did some shopping and then headed out to dinner with grandma.  She talked about how nice people are to old people with canes.  It was cute.  Later, she asked when Nick was going to get me some matching earrings.  Oh g-master.

Saw Angels and Demons on Saturday night as well.  Caught up with the rehearsal crew for some Lincoln Center movie business.  So, Lincoln Center is in the new building by the fancy mall in Bellevue.  Naturally, Nick and I are thinking that the movie is going to cost a lot - we guessed $15/ticket.  Nope!  Turns out is was $10/ticket.  Apparently the movie theaters in California are stealing our money - but let's be honest, we willingly give it away.  A matinee out here costs $8.75.  We never even go to evening shows.  I'd rather buy a flat screen or something.  But all in all, the movie was good.  Not as good as Star Trek, but maybe that's not a fair comparison.

Sunday was wedding day.  Not our wedding, but deuce Jing and Judy's wedding.  Deuce Jing's real name is Jing Jing - it's so nice, they say it twice.  Nick was a groomsman, the tallest groomsman actually.  They got married at the Hyatt in Bellevue.  It was a pretty small wedding but we had lots of fun.

Nick - post ceremony.  Apparently the guys were burning up during the ceremony, so he was happy to get outside.  This is not Nick's first venture into wedding attendant duties.  He's been known to frequent the ring bearer scene, and I've even been known to flower girl an occasional wedding myself - let's be honest, we're a good match.  So when I was a flower girl I practiced walking slowly and sprinkling flowers on the ground.  I'd usually do it in the backyard and practice sprinkling leaves.  You can imagine my disappointment when I learned that I wouldn't get to drop petals....instead, I carried a basket of flowers.  I wanted to drop petals so bad, I think I even asked my mom if it was allowed.  She said no.  Nuts!

I tried to branch out from my usual - black - wedding attire this year.  I found a cute GREEN dress at Express and threw on a black cardigan.  This girl had the same idea.  I was all set to take a "look, we're twins" picture, when she gave me the stink eye.  Perhaps someone by her had just farted, or perhaps she doesn't know how to smile.  But either way, we were twins (oh and by the way - she also missed the ceremony....oops).  Since she didn't seem amenable to a picture - at least a posed picture - I did my best stalker impression and snapped this little gem.

The decorations were very pretty and we had a great time reminiscing with old high school/college friends.

Here's one last shot I grabbed while they were dancing.  I think it's cute.  Congrats you crazy kids.

Friday

Arrived in Seattle on Friday.  It was BEAUTIFUL!  On a perfect spring day, Seattle is the best place to be.  The weather is perfect.  Unfortunately, they don't happen that often.  However, we were fortunate to have great weather the entire weekend and it reminded us why we love Seattle.

Had dinner at Dahlia Lounge with Dad and Dana.  We were filled to the brim with gourmet grilled cheese, pot stickers and some steak!

Then it was off to see Stace rehearse for her dance show thingy.  Good time.

Weekend and other stuff

Nick was in Vegas for Jing's bachelor party this weekend. So it was just me and the moch!

Mochi missed Nick, but he'll settle for me in a pinch.

On Friday I watched the finale of Grey's Anatomy. I had kind of stopped watching that show - mostly because I'm too busy for TV these days. It was crazy. And I cried. Oh how I cried.

On Saturday I sat by the pool with Lisa and Kellie and Mochi. Then this guy and daughter came in so I said, "Oh, shall I take my dog inside?" and the guy says, "That depends on how obnoxious he's going to be." Umm.....so what do you say to that? I made some little joke and just let Mochi stay. Turns out the daughter was all into dogs and wanted to pet Moch. She just has a grumpy dad. They say that dogs are god judges of character and Mochi wouldn't go near that man.

Then I rented Made of Honor - with Patrick Dempsey and that other doctor from Grey's - the one who's in the army. SPOILER ALERT. Made of Honor is JUST like Sweet Home Alabama, except this time, Patrick Dempsey gets the girl. Who'd have thought.....sarcasm. But I got to see it, and I wouldn't want to make Nick sit through that.

Sunday was spent doing hair and makeup in preparation for Kellie's wedding. Good times. We also watch Bride Wars - much better than I thought it would be. But still a chick flick.

Then I thought I'd make a list of things that stress me out and things that make me happy:

:-( Trader Joe's parking lots
:-) Picking a good line (eg. I picked the fasted line for gas at Costco and the fastest checkout line at TJs - I was ON today)
:-( Picking a bad line
:-) The red box movies at Safeway - $1 - incredible
:-( People that walk slowly
:-) Efficiency
:-) A good iTunes mix
:-) Disney
:-) The first time Tony came back on 24
:-( Tony on this season of 24
:-) The Office
:-) Automatic A status on Southwest
:-) Anyone who still reads this - Katie Musar, Kelly Ronan, Sean Whiting?, Anthony Ching, my dad, Stace?, Nick, Jody, Laura (the world's strongest woman)?.......
:-) Mochi and Nick

This list was going to be funnier.....but that just didn't work out.

Star Trek and the Princess Diaries

Nick and I saw Star Trek this weekend.  It was pretty good.  As a non-trekkie, it was very entertaining and I enjoyed it.  While watching the movie, I couldn't place Captain Kirk.  I knew I'd seen him before but couldn't put my finger on it.  Thank goodness for IMDB.  An that's when I realized....he's the guy from Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement.

On a sidenote, Nick continues to say, "These are the voyages of the star ship enterprise" mimicking the voice from the tv/movie.
